🧾 Ingredients

For the Pasta Bake

  • 300 g (10 oz) short pasta (penne, fusilli, or rigatoni)
  • 2 cans tuna in water or oil (160 g / 5 oz each), drained
  • 200 ml (¾ cup) cooking cream or heavy cream
  • 150 g (1 ½ cups) grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 cup frozen peas or sweetcorn
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (for heat)
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Creamy Tuna Sauce

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C / 400°F.
  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Sauté the chopped onion for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Stir in the tuna, breaking it up gently.
  • Add cream, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 3: Assemble the Bake

  • Add the cooked pasta (and optional vegetables) to the sauce.
  • Mix well until everything is evenly coated.
  • Transfer to a lightly greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle grated cheese evenly on top.

Step 4: Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  • For extra browning, switch to grill/broil mode for the last 2 minutes.
